    eBooks at Bishop Mueller Library

For those of you who asked about the availability of electronic books in the library, I am posting this notice that we have activated a subscription with more that 52,000 titles covering all academic subjects.  For now here is a direct link to our ebrary subscription, or you can access it from a link at the library website.  Access has been established for use from anywhere you have access to the Internet.  When prompted to authenticate through our EZ Proxy enter your campus network credentials.  If you have questions let us know!

I took a look at some of the content last night. Looks great. I already have some titles on my virtual bookshelf.

    eBook Trials

The library advisory committee is currently trialing three eBook services in order to give us advice for the package that will best fit their instructional and information needs.  I am posting to this site to extend the offer to each of you to view these interfaces and share what you discover (the good, the bad, and the ugly) with your peers.  Visit my posting on the BCULAC blog to learn more.

    Taking notes on an iPad

It looks like OneNote is free on the iPad! OneNote is a great program for taking notes and organizing information.

The Boxwave stylus that Tom links to above is the one Deb and I use — we tried two other brands (Pogo and a no-name cheap one) but Boxwave was by far the best choice. I’ll bring in the styluses next week so you can compare them.

I’ve found that Best Buy has a Targus stylus for $14.99 that, according to some online reviews, appears to be almost identical to the Boxwave. I was unable to find the Boxwave locally, but will probably buy the Targus today.

And that’s a great price! I saw a very similar Griffin stylus at Target in town but it was much more expensive.

Regarding OneNote: It appears that the only version is iPhone/iPod sized. 😦
